The Therapy

Why Lymphatic Drainage
Changes Everything

Chronic illness creates a cycle of inflammation, toxin buildup, and immune dysregulation. Lymphatic drainage massage breaks that cycle.

Your lymphatic system is your body's cleansing network — it removes waste, fights infection, and regulates fluid balance. Chronic disease disrupts it profoundly: inflammation overwhelms drainage capacity, toxins accumulate, and immune function suffers.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) uses feather-light, rhythmic strokes to manually stimulate this system — redirecting stagnant lymph fluid, calming overactive immune responses, reducing swelling, and flushing inflammatory byproducts that drive pain and fatigue.

At LVB MedSpa, our therapists are trained in condition-specific protocols. We understand that fibromyalgia requires a different approach than lymphedema, and that autoimmune clients need pressure calibrated with great care.

Conditions We Help

Your Diagnosis
Understood.

We work with clients living with a wide range of chronic conditions. Each protocol is designed around your specific diagnosis, symptom profile, and sensitivity.

01
Fibromyalgia
Widespread Pain & Fatigue

Fibromyalgia causes widespread musculoskeletal pain, heightened sensitivity, and profound fatigue. The lymphatic system often becomes congested, worsening the inflammatory cycle and pain signaling.

How MLD Helps
Ultra-gentle pressure calms the sensitized nervous system · Clears inflammatory cytokines · Reduces tissue tenderness · Improves sleep quality and energy
02
Lupus & Autoimmune
Immune System Dysregulation

Lupus and other autoimmune diseases create chronic inflammation that overwhelms the lymphatic system. Swollen lymph nodes, joint pain, and skin involvement all respond to targeted lymphatic work.

How MLD Helps
Modulates overactive immune response · Reduces joint swelling and inflammation · Clears immune complexes from tissues · Supports kidney and liver function
03
Lymphedema
Chronic Lymphatic Swelling

Lymphedema — whether primary or secondary (post-cancer, post-surgery) — causes chronic swelling as lymph fluid accumulates in tissues. MLD is the gold-standard treatment recommended by lymphedema specialists worldwide.

How MLD Helps
Manually redirects trapped lymph fluid · Reduces limb volume and heaviness · Softens fibrotic tissue · Prevents progression and infection risk
04
Chronic Lyme Disease
Post-Treatment Lyme Syndrome

Post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome leaves many patients with persistent inflammation, neurological symptoms, and profound fatigue long after antibiotic treatment. The lymphatic system plays a key role in clearing Lyme-related toxins.

How MLD Helps
Accelerates clearance of bacterial debris and toxins · Reduces neuroinflammation · Eases joint pain and muscle aches · Supports herxheimer recovery
05
Multiple Sclerosis
Neurological Autoimmune Disease

MS involves inflammation and immune attacks on the nervous system. Many MS patients experience limb heaviness, spasticity, and fatigue that lymphatic massage can meaningfully address without exacerbating symptoms.

How MLD Helps
Reduces limb heaviness and spasticity · Calms the autonomic nervous system · Eases fatigue and brain fog · Improves mobility and quality of life
06
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
ME/CFS & Long COVID

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Long COVID share disrupted immune function, neuroinflammation, and profound exhaustion. Lymphatic drainage offers one of the few truly gentle, effective interventions.

How MLD Helps
Reduces post-exertional malaise when performed gently · Clears neuroinflammatory waste · Improves mitochondrial function indirectly · Supports parasympathetic recovery
07
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Inflammatory Joint Disease

RA causes chronic joint inflammation, swelling, and progressive damage. Lymphatic drainage reduces the synovial fluid buildup and inflammatory load that makes RA so painful and limiting.

How MLD Helps
Reduces joint swelling and morning stiffness · Drains excess synovial fluid · Decreases inflammatory cytokine levels · Improves range of motion
08
Cancer & Post-Chemo
Oncology Lymphatic Support

Cancer treatment often damages the lymphatic system directly — through lymph node removal, radiation, or chemotherapy. We offer compassionate, oncology-aware lymphatic support with appropriate physician coordination.

How MLD Helps
Manages post-surgical and post-radiation lymphedema · Clears chemotherapy byproducts · Reduces fatigue and nausea · Supports immune reconstitution
09
Crohn's & IBD
Inflammatory Bowel Disease

The gut has its own lymphatic network — the lacteals — and inflammatory bowel diseases severely impair this system. Abdominal lymphatic drainage is a gentle, supportive therapy during and between flares.

How MLD Helps
Supports gut lymphatic drainage · Reduces abdominal bloating and discomfort · Calms mesenteric inflammation · Supports nutrient absorption pathways

The Process

What Happens
In Your Session

Every session is adapted to your diagnosis, current symptom load, and what your body needs that day. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is forced.

01
Intake & Assessment

We review your diagnosis, current medications, recent symptom flares, and any areas of concern or contraindication. Your comfort and safety guide everything.

02
Gentle Preparation

We begin with deep diaphragmatic breathing and light activation of the main lymph nodes — axillary, inguinal, and cervical — to open the drainage pathways before treating the body.

03
MLD Technique

Feather-light, rhythmic strokes move systematically toward active lymph nodes. Pressure never exceeds 30–40 mmHg — far lighter than a regular massage — making it safe even during flares.

04
Home Care Plan

You leave with a self-drainage routine, hydration guidance, and a recommended session frequency tailored to your condition. Consistency amplifies results significantly.

Gentle by Design

Made for
Sensitive Bodies

The Lightest Touch in Massage

MLD uses pressure so gentle it feels like skin is being lightly stretched. For fibromyalgia and autoimmune clients who cannot tolerate regular massage, this is often the only bodywork they can receive without a flare.

No Oil, No Deep Pressure

Unlike Swedish or deep tissue massage, MLD requires no oil and involves no kneading or compression. Sessions are performed with you fully draped and completely in control of pressure and focus areas.

You May Feel Tired Afterward

As lymph moves and toxins are cleared, your body does real work. Mild fatigue or a need to urinate more frequently after a session is normal and a sign the drainage is working. We advise rest and hydration.

Results Build Over Time

Most chronic disease clients notice meaningful improvement within 3–6 sessions. Inflammation and swelling reduction, better sleep, and improved energy levels are often the first changes reported.

"For the first time in two years, I left a session feeling lighter — not exhausted."

— Client with Fibromyalgia, White Plains

FAQ

For most conditions, very gentle MLD can actually help during mild-to-moderate flares by reducing the inflammatory load. However, every case is different. We always assess your current state before beginning and may shorten sessions or modify technique during active flares. We recommend coordinating with your physician for severe flares.
A referral is not required for most conditions. However, for post-cancer lymphedema and certain neurological conditions, we strongly recommend physician coordination. We're happy to communicate directly with your healthcare team and follow any specific post-treatment instructions they provide.
Yes. Contraindications include active infection, acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT), active congestive heart failure, kidney failure, and certain cancers. We conduct a thorough intake for every new client to identify any contraindications. If you're unsure, your physician can advise.
It varies by condition. Lymphedema clients typically benefit from an intensive phase of 5–10 sessions over 2–3 weeks, then monthly maintenance. Fibromyalgia and autoimmune clients often start with bi-weekly sessions for 4–6 weeks, then monthly. Lyme and chronic fatigue clients generally do best with gradual weekly sessions, building tolerance over time.
Absolutely. Lymphatic massage is an integrative therapy — it works alongside medications, physical therapy, and other treatments, never instead of them. Many of our chronic disease clients combine MLD with our peptide therapy (BPC-157 is particularly synergistic for inflammation) and compression therapy.
Before: Stay well-hydrated, avoid heavy meals 2 hours prior, and let us know if your symptoms have changed. After: Drink plenty of water (lymphatic drainage releases toxins that need flushing), rest if you feel fatigued, avoid alcohol for 24 hours, and avoid vigorous exercise same-day.
Yes — we accept CareCredit, Zelle, and Venmo. We also offer packages that provide per-session savings for clients who commit to an ongoing care schedule. Call us to discuss the best arrangement for your treatment plan and budget.
Important Note

A Complement to
Your Medical Care

Lymphatic drainage massage at LVB MedSpa is a supportive wellness therapy. It is not a substitute for medical treatment, diagnosis, or the care of your physician, rheumatologist, oncologist, or other specialists. We strongly encourage all chronic disease clients to inform their healthcare team about their lymphatic therapy and to follow their prescribed medical treatment plans. We are happy to coordinate directly with your medical team upon request.

Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know Before Booking

How soon after surgery can I start lymphatic massage?

Typically 3–5 days post-procedure, once your surgeon clears you. We work closely with your surgical team and can coordinate the timing of your sessions for optimal recovery. Some surgeons recommend starting as early as Day 3.

How many sessions will I need?

Most post-op clients benefit from 6–12 sessions, with the first 3 sessions in the initial 2 weeks after surgery. Chronic and wellness clients typically schedule weekly or bi-weekly. We'll recommend a personalized plan during your first visit.

What should I expect at my first session?

Your first session includes a brief intake to understand your history and goals, followed by a gentle, flowing massage using specialized techniques. Sessions are relaxing — most clients notice reduced swelling and puffiness immediately after. Wear comfortable, loose clothing.

Is it painful?

Lymphatic drainage is exceptionally gentle — much lighter than a regular massage. There is no deep pressure. Post-surgical clients with tenderness are always treated with extra care and adjusted pressure.

Do you work with my surgeon?

Yes. Our team regularly coordinates with surgeons across Westchester and NYC. We're happy to communicate directly with your surgical team and tailor your sessions to their post-op protocol.
